About the event

The IIT Bombay Half Marathon (IITBHM) returns for its highly anticipated 5th edition. Held within the magnificent campus of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Powai, Mumbai, this annual marathon is organized by Fitizen India in association with IIT Bombay Sports Team Aavhan.

Building on the resounding success of the past editions, we are thrilled to announce the launch of the highly anticipated 5th Season of the IIT Bombay Half Marathon 2023. With the theme of “India’s First Marathon Towards Carbon Neutrality,” we are committed to creating a sustainable event that champions eco-friendly practices and promotes a greener future.

Event Facilities

  • Pay and Park Facility: Parking options are available around the IIT Bombay campus. Details will be provided closer to the event day. Participants are responsible for their own parked vehicles.
  • No Parking Inside & Outside IIT Powai Premises: Please note that parking inside or outside IIT Powai premises and on the road is strictly prohibited.
  • Transportation Service: Convenient transportation via battery cars is available from IIT Powai’s main gate to the holding area.
  • Secure Baggage Counter: A safe and reliable baggage counter is provided inside the holding area.
  • Medical Assistance: Medical counters and ambulances are strategically placed near the start point and along the route for any medical needs.
  • Physiotherapy Support: Physio counters are available inside the holding area to provide assistance to runners.
  • Route Markers and Signages: Stay on track with clear route markers and signages guiding you throughout the course.
  • Hydration Stations: Well-stocked hydration stations along the route with water, energy drinks, fruits, and biscuits to keep you energized.
  • Warm-up and Stretching Sessions: Get ready for the race with pre-race warm-up sessions and post-race stretching to cool down.
  • Delicious & Nutritious Breakfast: Enjoy a scrumptious and healthy breakfast post your race.
  • Finisher Medals: All participants will receive well-deserved finisher medals upon completing the run.
  • Timings Post the Run: Your race timings will be provided to you after the run, so you can celebrate your achievements.

How can I register myself?

Is there any Early bird offer or group discount for participants?

There are NO Early bird offers available to the participants.

Can I register manually (offline)?

You will have to register online. There will be limited spot registrations at the time of bib expo.

Is there a minimum/maximum age for participants?

The minimum age limit is:

  • 14 years for 10 Kms
  • 18 years for half marathon
  • 8 years for 5 Kms

Can I participate in multiple race categories?

No. You can only participate in one race category.

There was a problem during registration. I have been charged, but I did not receive a confirmation. What should I do?

I have made a mistake in one of my registration fields. How do I correct it?

No change of category will be allowed.

There will be no refund in case of cancellation of registration.

Are t-shirts available for all race categories?

Yes.

When is the BIB Distribution?

When will I get my Race Kit?

At the time of the bib distribution.

Will the timing chip be provided?

Yes, a timing chip will be provided for all half marathon, 10K, and 5K timed run participants.

Where is the event going to be conducted?

The event is going to be conducted inside IIT BOMBAY Campus.

What's the start time of the race?

We will announce the start times closer to the event date.

Are there any cash prizes?

There are no cash prizes. The winners will be felicitated with mementos.

Rules & Regulations

  1. 5km distance category is allowed for participants of 8 years and above (Born on or before October 28th, 2015).
  2. 10km distance category is open for participants over 14 years and above (born or before October 28th, 2009); the 21km distance category is allowed for participants of 18 years and above (born on or before October 28th, 2005).
  3. Race timing will be recorded on Mat-to- Mat basis i.e. your timing starts/stops when you cross the start/finish line.
  4. Registrations will close on October 15th, 2023 at 11:59 PM or when the maximum limit of Running Places is filled in, whichever is earlier.
  5. Participants must upload/submit a copy of their ID proof for age verification.
  6. The discounted price for IIT students is only for the existing IIT Bombay students with a valid student id card. It is mandatory to upload the student id card as proof to avail of the discount.
  7. The BIB allotted to the participant is non-transferable and a request for cancellation and thereby, a refund will not be entertained.
  8. All participants will be served snacks and refreshments after the race. It is compulsory to show BIB for collecting snacks
  9. Finishers Medal will be given to each participant in all distance categories after finishing the race. It is compulsory to show BIB for collecting the Finisher Medal.
  10. The participant can download E-certificates as soon as they are available on the website post the event.
  11. The event organizer reserves the right to modify the Date, Venue, Distance, Race start time, and any other changes related to this event at any given point in time.
  1. Please choose the event category carefully, confirmed registrations are non-refundable, non-transferable, and cannot be modified. Provide us with a secure email ID/mobile no that you can access regularly since this will be our primary means of communication during the run-up to the event. We will be sending regular updates to the Mobile number you have provided in the registration form this should be not treated as spam and you shall not take any action against our bulk SMS service provider. Any notice sent to the email address registered with the organizers shall be deemed as received by the runners.
  2. You are aware that running long distance running is an extreme sport and can be injurious to the body and health. You take full responsibility for participating in the IITBHM2023 event and do not hold IIT BOMBAY AND FITIZEN INDIA, the organizing committees, the managing committee, or any of its members or entities responsible for any injury or accident.
  3. You may acknowledge and agree that your personal information can be stored and used by the organizers in connection with the organization, promotion, and administration of the event and for the compilation of statistical information.
  4. You confirm that, in the event of adverse weather conditions, major incidents or threats on the day, or any of the force majeure restrictions by authority, the organizers reserve the right to stop/cancel/postpone the event. You understand that confirmed registrations and merchandise orders are non-refundable, non-transferable, and cannot be modified. The organizers reserve the right to reject any application without providing reasons. Any amount collected from rejected applications alone will be refunded in full (excluding bank charges wherever applicable).
  5. Participants are requested to eat a healthy meal and not consume alcohol the previous night to avoid dehydration.
  6. The conduct and behavior of the participant should not cause distress or harm to anyone including other participant members, Organizer staff, service providers,etc; in which case, we/ service providers reserve the right to ask you to immediately leave, or in certain circumstances, hand you over to the appropriate authorities, in which case the financial liability would be of the participant.
  7. If for any reason the participant wishes to abruptly end the run before its scheduled completion, or is unable to participate due to being unfit, we will not be able to provide any return support or any refund, and the financial liability for making any alternate arrangements would be of the participant.
  8. The participant is responsible for following the organizer’s instructions and has to bear all the expenses which may arise in case of medical exigency or any emergency condition.
  9. Cuts, bruises, and minor injuries are normal for outdoor activity. A first aid kit is provided and the coordinators are trained to respond in such situations. Organizers take all reasonable steps to provide the basic safety required for the particular activity.
  10. Organizers hold the right to change the itinerary or even cancel the activity in case of any unexpected change in weather or other unpredicted situations occur that are beyond our control. Organizers will not be liable for any costs such as travel or accommodation incurred by the participant in such circumstances.
  11. It is mandatory to disclose any personal medical conditions so that prior arrangements can be made. Organizers do not hold any responsibility for the outcome of any undisclosed medical condition during the trip.
  12. Smoking and drinking are strictly prohibited.
  13. You agree that IITBHM2023 EVENT organizers shall not be liable for any loss, damage, illness, or injury that might occur as a result of your participation in the event. Also, organizers are not responsible for any unforeseen damage brought to participants’ personal belongings or personal vehicles during the trip.
  14. No parking is available inside or outside IIT BOMBAY premises. Parking done by the participants will be at their own risk.
  15. If participants are found violating the rules, Organizers reserve all the rights toremove the participant from the group. In such situation, no refund shall be provided.
  16. E-certificates will be given to all participants who successfully complete the course within the cut-off timings.
  17. Medal will be given to all participants who complete the course.
  18. For security reasons, participants are requested to come without any baggage. It is strongly recommended that you do not leave valuables like mobile phones, cameras, jewelry, watch, electronic gadgets, etc. in the bag stored.
  19. Organizers, however, are not responsible for any loss of baggage and/or belongings.
  20. Participants found to have interchanged their timing bib tag with another individual, will be disqualified from the event and shall not be allowed to apply or participate in the subsequent edition of the event.
  21. Please note if you don’t wear your timing bib tag as instructed, you won’t be able to get an official finish time, medal, and e-certificate.
  22. Every participant is required to wear the bib (chest no) at all times during the race.
  23. If this registration is being made on behalf of a minor, I confirm that I am the parent/guardian of the child and that he/she has my permission to take part in the event. I further concur that all the above rules shall apply to him/her as if he were a major.
  24. Participants must personally appear for collecting the running Bibs. Bibs can be distributed in-absentee with written consent of the registered runners.

*Kindly present your registration confirmation email to receive your Race Kit at the BIB EXPO.
*If someone else is collecting your Race Kit on your behalf, please ensure they have a copy of your confirmation email and an ID for verification.
*Members of the defense community are requested to provide their Professional ID card to collect their Race Kit.
*Please be informed that Race Kits will not be distributed on the Race Day.
*Limited on-site registrations are available for your convenience.
*One person can collect maximum of 5 Race Kits.
